Frequently Asked Questions
There are several possible causes of this problem, please check the following points…
a) If you are given a message ‘Failed to place object in specified location’
This meens that the item is not in fact missing, it is just having problems rezzing in the location you are at. Try a different spot on the ground. I find relogging sometimes helps this too.
b) Are you on build enabled land. If you do not have permission to build on the land you will not be able to rez an object.
c) For newer residents… is the item your rezzing an object, only certain things can be rezzed in world. Animations and Scripts cannot be rezzed on the ground in front of you. In your inventory an object is indicated by a box icon at the side of it.
d) Does the land you are on have autoreturn turned on. If the land does your object may get returned to your inventory to your lost and found folder. It is also possible for objects to end up in odd places. If it seems to be missing after rezzing it try using the various methods outlined further up this page to search for missing items in your inventory.
e) You are given a message ‘Item is missing from database’
This is the real nightmare one. Please contact linden lab even if you do not expect to get this resolved. They might be able to help.
f) If you tried to rez an item, but it did not rez in world and then was missing from inventory, this may be a linden bug. They are ment to have fixed this bug so if you encounter it please report it to Linden.
g) If none of the above helps please contact me and provide your avatar name, and as much information about the item and problem as possible and I will do my best to help. If you have a recent transaction number for the item purchase please also provide this. If you can provide as much information as possible it will help me to resolve your problem as quickly as possible.
